Five local businesses and organizations have been recognized for their efforts in maintaining clean and attractive premises. Hodnett Cooper Real Estate/Brunswick office and Brunswick Housing Authority Hopkins Homes received “Clean Sweep” awards for the fourth quarter of 2016, while The Brunswick Country Club and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church were each honored with 5-year distinctions and College Place United Methodist Church received the first Clean Sweep 10-year award. Clean Sweep awards are presented quarterly by Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and the Brunswick News. A seven-member panel of community members selects the honorees based on their contribution to keeping the Golden Isles cleaner and greener. In keeping with the spirit of up-cycling and recycling, awards created from materials destined for the landfill are presented.
The Brunswick Housing Authority announces the opening of its Section 8 waiting list on the THIRD TUESDAY of the month for four months beginning September 19, 2017 at 9:00 A.M with the final day being on December 19, 2017. The Brunswick Housing Authority will be seeing one hundred applicants per day only. This will be on a first come, first serve basis. We will be taking applications in person at our Central Office located at 1126 Albany Street, Brunswick, GA 31520. We will see applicants from 9:00 am -12:00 pm, and from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm. We will not tolerate any unruly behavior. Security strictly enforced.

The Brunswick Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will hold its monthly meetings for the first half of 2016 on the following dates:
- October 11th
- November 8th
- December 13th
The meetings are held at 8:00 am at the Authority’s Central Office, 1126 Albany Street.
